Tuesday's Mega Millions jackpot jumps to $168 million; 4 second prize tickets sold

The grand prize in the Mega Millions multistate lottery game keeps rising up and is going to be up to a projected $168 million for the next drawing on Tuesday. The lump-sum cash payout stands at $118.8 million. The amount was rolled over since no one hit all six numbers to win the $155 million grand prize Friday night. The winning numbers from Friday night, January 31st, 2020 were 28-31-33-57-62 and the Mega Ball was 19, Megaplier was 2. The Mega Millions grand prize has been rolling over for 236 draws since Tuesday, October 17th, 2017.A single lucky winner from New York won the $104 million top prize in Friday, September 22nd, 2017 drawing.
Though the jackpot was not hit Friday evening, some people still walked away with huge prizes. There were 4 lucky tickets correctly matched all 5 lotto numbers but missed Mega Ball number, which won the second prize. The 4 second prize winning ticket(s) sold in won $1,000,000 cash each.
Also, 12 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. Additional winners Friday night included 379 tickets that matched four lotto numbers and won $500. 888 tickets matched three of the five lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.
With 9 ways to win, there were 1,287,900 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Friday, January 31st, 2020 drawing.
Mega Millions is a consortium involving 44 state lotteries. It holds the record highest jackpot of $656 million in United States lottery history. Approximately 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back for the players in prizes. Approximately 15% goes to retailer commissions and lottery operation expenses. Around 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the member states. To play, pick 5 numbers from 1 to 70 and select 1 Mega Ball number from a set of 25.
