The jackpot for Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing skyrockets to $400,000,000

Florida Mega Millions News and Payout for Friday, September 12th, 2025 Drawing
The Mega Millions multi-state lottery grand prize rolled up to $400,000,000 (cash value $$185.8 million) Tuesday night when there were no jackpot winners in the $381,000,000 drawing, lottery officials said. The winning numbers drawn Friday night, September 12th, 2025 were 17, 18, 21, 42, 64 with Mega Ball number 07 and Megaplier x. The Mega Millions jackpot has been growing for 49 draws since Friday, March 28th, 2025.A single lucky player from IL won the $344 million jackpot in Tuesday, March 25th, 2025 drawing.
While the jackpot was not hit Friday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. A total of 6 lucky winners won the 3rd prize. Among them, 6 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000.
Other winners Friday evening included 165 tickets that matched four white ball numbers and won $500. There were 572 tickets that matched 3 white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and also won $200.
With nine ways to win, there were a total of 676,068 winning tickets sold across the nation in the Friday, September 12th, 2025 drawing.
Mega Millions can be played in 43 states and D.C. Roughly 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back on the players in prizes. Roughly 15% is used to as commission of retailers and lottery operating costs. Roughly 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the member lottery states. Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday night at 7:59 PM Pacific Time. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay $1 extra to buy the Megaplier, which multiplies the winnings 2 to 5 times except jackpot. The chances of winning are about 1 to 14. The chances of winning Mega Millions grand prize are 1 to 302,575,350. The minimum Mega Millions jackpot is $40,000,000. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual payments. Winners may select one-time lump sum cash payout option instead.
