The jackpot for Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing skyrockets to $220 million

The grand prize in the Mega Millions multistate lottery game continues increasing and is going to be up to $220 million for the next drawing on Tuesday. The cash value will be a projected $148.9 million. The amount was rolled over because no player matched all six winning numbers to win the $201 million grand prize Friday night. The numbers from Friday, April 9th, 2021 drawing were 22, 26, 27, 58, 66 with Mega Ball 12 and Megaplier x2. The Mega Millions grand prize has been rolling over for 360 draws since Tuesday, October 17th, 2017.The last jackpot was won by a single ticket sold in New York, matched all six numbers for a $104 million top prize.

Although the jackpot was not awarded Friday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There were a total of 9 third prize winning tickets. These included 9 tickets that matched 4 white numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $10,000.

Additional winners Friday evening included 345 tickets that matched four lotto numbers and won $500. Other prizes won included 1033 tickets that matched 3 white numbers in addition to the Mega Ball and won $200.

With nine different prize levels, there were a total of 1,715,196 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Friday, April 9th, 2021 drawing.

Mega Millions is a consortium involving 44 state lotteries. It holds the record largest jackpot in United States lottery history. Roughly 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back to the players in prizes. Around 15% is used to as retailer commissions and lottery operating costs. Approximately 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the member states. Mega Millions drawings occur every Tuesday and Friday at 7:59 PM Pacific Time. To play Mega Millions, choose 5 numbers from a set of 70 and choose 1 Mega Ball number from a set of 25. The odds of winning any prizes are about 1 to 14. The chances of matching all six Mega Millions numbers are 1 to 302,575,350. The minimum Mega Millions advertised jackpot is $40 million. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual payments. Winners may select one time lump-sum cash payout option instead.
