With no winner in the latest draw, the Mega Millions grand prize will be worth a projected $28,000,000 (cash option $$12.5 million) the next time the multistate lottery is drawn on Friday. The amount rolled over since no one matched all six numbers to win the $20,000,000 jackpot Tuesday night. The numbers from Tuesday night, January 21st, 2025 were 27, 30, 56, 64, 65 with Mega Ball number 22 and Megaplier 4.
Though the jackpot was not hit Tuesday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There were a total of 9 third prize winning tickets. These included 9 tickets that matched four white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $10,000.
Other prizes won Tuesday evening included 134 tickets that matched four lotto numbers and won $500. There were 367 tickets that correctly matched three white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball and also won $200.
With 9 different prize levels, there were 666,222 winning tickets sold across U.S. in the Tuesday, January 21st, 2025 drawing.
Mega Millions is an U.S. popular lottery game sold in 44 participating states as a pari-mutuel jackpot game. Around 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back on the players in prize winnings. Roughly 15% is used to as retailer commissions and lottery operating costs. Approximately 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the participating states. Mega Millions drawings occur 2 times a week every Tuesday and Friday night at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Mega Millions uses a 5/70 (white balls) + 1/25 (Mega Balls) matrix to randomly choose winning numbers. The overall chances of winning any prizes are about 1 to 14. The odds of winning Mega Millions jackpot are 1 to 302,575,350. The minimum Mega Millions advertised jackpot is $40 million. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly payments. Winners may choose one time lump sum cash payout instead.
