Tuesday's Mega Millions jackpot breaks to $30,000,000; Two second prize tickets sold

The jackpot in the multi-state Mega Millions lottery drawing rolled up to $30,000,000 for the Tuesday drawing. The cash option will be a projected $$13.9 million up for grab. No ticket sold for Friday's $20,000,000 drawing hit five lotto numbers and the Mega Ball number. The numbers from Friday, June 7th, 2024 drawing were 03, 05, 12, 22, 66 and the Mega Ball was 07, Megaplier was 4.
Though there was no jackpot winner Friday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There were two lucky players that matched all 5 numbers and won the 2nd prize. The two second prize winning ticket(s) purchased in CA,TX won a quarter million dollar cash each.
In addition, 32 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. Also, 344 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. Other prizes won included 1036 tickets that matched 3 white numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $200.
With 9 different prize levels, there were 976,734 winning tickets sold across U.S. in the Friday, June 7th, 2024 drawing.
Mega Millions lottery is played in 43 states and Washington DC. Around 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back on the players in prize winnings. Approximately 15% goes to retailer commissions and lottery operating costs. About 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the participating lottery states. To play Mega Millions, pick 5 numbers from a set of 70 then select 1 Mega Ball number from a set of 25. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to buy the Megaplier, which multiplies the winnings 2 to 5 times but not jackpot. The minimum Mega Millions advertised jackpot is $40,000,000. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual payments. Winners can choose one time lump sum cash payout instead.
