The jackpot for Friday's Mega Millions drawing soars to $815,000,000

The Mega Millions game jackpot has been pumped up to an estimated $815,000,000 (lump-sum cash payout $$385.1 million) for the next drawing in the multistate lottery game Friday night. The jackpot amount has been rolled over since no one matched all 5 white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball number to take the $735,000,000 grand prize Tuesday night. The winning numbers from Tuesday, March 12th, 2024 drawing were 02-16-31-57-64 and the Mega Ball was 24, Megaplier was 3. The Mega Millions grand prize has been growing for 27 draws since Tuesday, December 12th, 2023. The last jackpot was won by 2 lucky tickets sold in CA(2), matched all six numbers and shared a $395 million top prize.
Although the jackpot was not hit Tuesday evening, some players still walked away with large winnings. There were 2 second prize winning tickets from Tuesday night's Mega Millions drawing, matching the first 5 white ball numbers but not the Mega Ball number. The 2 lucky ticket(s) sold in MA,NC, each won one quarter million dollar cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.
In addition, 27 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. Other prizes won Tuesday evening included 684 tickets that matched four lotto numbers and won $500. Other prizes won included 1767 tickets that matched 3 white numbers together with Mega Ball and won $200.
With nine prize tiers, there were 2,737,880 winning tickets sold across U.S. in the Tuesday, March 12th, 2024 drawing.
Mega Millions lottery is played in 43 states and D.C. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend $1 extra to purchase the Megaplier option, which multiplies the winnings 2 to 5 times but not grand prize. The odds of winning any prizes are about 1 to 14. The chances of winning Mega Millions jackpot are 1 to 302,575,350. The minimum Mega Millions jackpot is 40 million dollar. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners can select one time lump-sum cash payout option instead.
