The jackpot in the multi-state Mega Millions drawing built to $173,000,000 for the Tuesday drawing. The lump-sum cash payout stands at a projected $$75.7 million. No ticket sold for Friday's $154,000,000 drawing hit six numbers. The numbers from Friday, May 23rd, 2025 drawing were 07-18-40-55-68 and the Mega Ball was 18, Megaplier was . The Mega Millions grand prize has been rolling over for 17 draws since Friday, March 28th, 2025.One lucky player from IL walked away with $344 million grand prize in Tuesday, March 25th, 2025 drawing.
Even though the jackpot was not hit Friday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. A total of 5 lucky winners won the third prize. These included 5 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $10,000.
Other prizes won Friday evening included 121 tickets that matched four lotto numbers and won $500. There were 351 tickets that matched three white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and also won $200.
With nine different prize tiers, there were a total of 432,942 winning tickets sold across U.S. in the Friday, May 23rd, 2025 drawing.
Mega Millions is a consortium involving 44 state lotteries. Around 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back to the players through prize winnings. About 15% is used to as commission of retailers and lottery operation expenses. About 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the member lottery states. Mega Millions drawings occur 2 times a week every Tuesday and Friday at 7:59 PM Pacific Time. To play, pick 5 numbers from 1 to 70 then pick a Mega Ball number from 1 to 25. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend 1 extra dollar to buy the Megaplier option, which multiplies the prizes 2 to 5 times except grand prize. The minimum Mega Millions jackpot is 40 million dollar. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual payments. Winners can choose one time lump sum cash payout option instead.
