There were no tickets sold with all 6 numbers in the last multi-state Mega Millions lottery draw, and the estimated grand prize for Friday's drawing will climb to $47,000,000, lottery officials announced. The cash value will be a projected $$23.9 million up for grab. The winning numbers from Tuesday night, September 17th, 2024 were 14, 31, 48, 57, 64 with Mega Ball number 09 and Megaplier x3.
Though there was no jackpot winner Tuesday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There were a total of 6 third prize winning tickets. These included 6 tickets that matched 4 white numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $10,000.
Other winners Tuesday evening included 161 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers and won $500. There were 475 tickets that matched 3 white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball and also won $200.
With 9 ways to win, there were a total of 863,368 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Tuesday, September 17th, 2024 drawing.
Mega Millions is a consortium of 44 state lotteries. It holds the record highest jackpot of $656 million in North American lottery history. Approximately 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back for the players in prizes. Around 15% is used to as retailer commissions and lottery operating costs. Approximately 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the participating lottery states. Mega Millions drawings are held 2 times a week every Tuesday and Friday at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to buy the Megaplier option, which multiplies the original winnings 2 to 5 times except grand prize. The minimum Mega Millions advertised grand prize is $40 million. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly payments. Winners may choose one-time lump-sum cash payout option instead.
