The Powerball jackpot has jumped up to $178,000,000 (cash option $$80.7 million) for the next drawing in the multistate lottery game Wednesday night. The grand prize amount has been carried over since no player matched all six winning numbers to take the $163,000,000 grand prize Monday night. The winning numbers from Monday night, December 30th, 2024 were 09-19-33-38-39 and Powerball number was 01.
Although there was no grand prize winner Monday evening, some players still walked away with large winnings. A total of 7 lucky players won the 3rd prize. 4 additional tickets of this prize level were also wisely bought with the Power Play option that multiplied winnings 4 times to $40,000 cash!
Additional winners Monday night included 276 tickets that matched four white ball numbers and won $100. 93 additional players not just matched 4 white ball, but in addition purchased the Power Play option, double the prizes to a total win of $200 each! There were 577 tickets that matched three white ball numbers plus the Powerball and also won $100. 190 additional players not only matched 3+1, but in addition purchased the Power Play option, doulbled the winnings to $200 cash each ticket.
With nine different prize levels, the Monday night's drawing generated 402,543 winning tickets across the nation with a total amount of $0 prizes.
America's favorite Powerball lottery is played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. Powerball drawings are held 2 times a week every Wednesday and Saturday night at 10:59 PM Eastern Time. Each play costs $2. Players can choose to spend $1 extra to buy the Power Play, which multiplies the prizes except grand prize. The overall odds of winning any prizes is about 1 to 32. The chances of matching 6 Powerball numbers are about 1 in 292 million. The minimum Powerball advertised grand prize is 40 million dollar. Its annuity option is paid in 30 yearly increment payments in 29 years. Winners may choose one time lump-sum cash payout instead.
